Fosters To Forever Homes

Written by Lens And Leash

At the beginning of the summer we teamed up with Austin wedding, engagement, maternity, newborn and portrait photographer Sara Jordan to highlight the pups up for adopted at the Austin Dog Rescue in Austin, Texas. Sara was excited to turn her lens to the pups in need in her own photography studio.

Austin Dog Rescue has no physical shelter so their program is operated from a purely foster base system. They are an all volunteer rescue and have no paid employees. Austin Dog Rescue is a foster home based organization and all of their dogs are housed and cared for by foster caregivers in a home setting.  They focus on the dogs that fit in to most homes and save dogs that may have medical issues other rescues are unable to help. Austin Dog Rescue is a key component in helping dogs find their forever homes in Central Texas and we are so glad they exist.

Sara is used to photographing people in so many different settings so exchanging out the human for a pup wasn’t too hard since she has her own 4-legged companion by her side most days. Her talent comes through her lens effortlessly and each pup’s personality shines through each photo.

Consider adopting your next fur baby, they all need warm and loving homes. Check out all of these adorable dogs at Austin Dog Rescue and maybe you might find one that calls you “home”.

Thank you to Sara Jordan and the Austin Dog Rescue for your precious time and help in finding these sweet dogs their new forever homes!

Arlo

Photographed by Sara Jordan Photography

Arlo is happy go lucky boy! He is just shy of two years old and filled with energy to run and play. Arlo’s ideal home will be an active owner with time to exercise him and play with him. He would need a good daily walk as well as play time. He loves his rope toy! He would do best in a home with a yard to run and play. Because of his energy level and size, we would prefer he not go to an apartment or someone without a fenced yard.

Due to his size and energy level, Arlo would do best in a home with kids 10 and up. He is friendly with other respectful dogs and loves people. He has not been cat tested, but would likely do best in a home without one. He loves people and attention!

This gorgeous boy is waiting on his fun and active family to take him home!

Autumn

The first word that comes to mind when describing Autumn is sweet. If you’ve been on the search for a companion that is ready to give love and snuggles any time of the day Autumn is your girl. She is full of love, and her dream home consists of a place where endless belly rubs are a reality. Never has Autumn met a stranger…she is ready and willing to cover anyone she meets in puppy kisses and greets everyone with a thumping tail. Her favorite activities include sunbathing, getting belly rubs, eating, snuggling, and going for walks. She’s equally happy out on a walk or hanging out on the couch with her people.

In her foster home, Autumn has won the hearts of every guest right down to the AC repair man. Her outgoing personality has even rubbed off on the formerly reserved resident dog.

Autumn is so full of excitement that she is working on remembering manners and not jumping at the sign of a new friend. She has done great with the foster’s 18 month old dog-savvy niece (who isn’t put off by a lick or two on the face).

Autumn is potty trained and crate trained. She loves exploring and waits eagerly by the door for walks.

Lila

Meet Lila! This lovely Great Pyrenees mix is 8 years old. She is a big girl at about 100 pounds with the most luxurious apricot and white coat.

Lila has a very calm and easy going temperament.  She is a low-maintenance girl who enjoys hanging out and taking long naps.  She loves attention and enjoys meeting new people, especially when they come to her house for visits.  She is good with kids, however because of her large size, Lila would do best in a home without small children.  She will be under your hand as much as possible, soaking up all the love you have to give.

Lila loves her morning and evening walks. She walks very nicely on a loose leash with a steady, moderate pace. She also really loves car rides!  She gets along well with other dogs and would be happy with a doggie companion or as an only dog.  She has a deep, impressive bark, and she’s not afraid to use it!  She lets you know when there is something to warn you about.

She wasn’t feeling very well when she was taken in by Austin Dog Resuce. Her allergies and itching caused various uncomfortable skin conditions. After figuring out the right combination of food and prescription medicine, Lila has become a healthy and truly happy girl.  She is now ready to start the next phase of her life in a new home that will provide her with the TLC and daily attention that she loves.

Sweet Lila is waiting for her perfect home where she can chill out with her people.  Put in an application to meet this affectionate sweetheart.

Lila has a very calm and easy going temperament. She loves attention and has no problems meeting new people or dogs. She is Ms. Social for sure! Because of her temperament, she would be a perfect therapy dog as well.

She loves to be under your hand as much as possible, soaking up all the love you have to give. She is a couch cuddler most of the time. She is a low-maintenance girl and is super-eager to please.

She has a deep, impressive bark, and she’s not afraid to use it! She lets you know when there’s something to warn you about.

Lorelai

“I don’t like Mondays, but unfortunately they come around eventually” ~ Lorelai Gilmore

If you’ve ever watched the Gilmore girls you know just how special this momma dog is. She is loving, caring, needy and loyal. She will follow you around even if she just met you.

Lorelai and Rory came to ADR from the small Texas town of Winters, where lots of strays have no where to go. These 2 girls stole the heart of a resident who did everything she could to find a way for them to get out of there!

Lorelai is a devoted heeler that is true to the breed. She is looking for a home with probably no other dogs or cats. A home that is looking for a companion and a follower. Lorelai has been off leash many times and won’t move from her foster’s side. She is loyal and loving and enjoys all the loving she can get from her humans. She’s super affectionate to strangers, kids, anyone really.

If you are looking for a single dog to take on hikes, walks, etc then I highly recommend putting in an application to meet this girl. She’s a special kind of something looking for her special kind of forever!
