This Winter we were excited to partner up with Santa Barbara wedding, portrait & lifestyle photographer Linda Blue. As a photographer she is used to photographing just about everything so we thought it would be a great match for her to turn her lens to the pups and the people who have adopted them at Santa Barbara Humane Society.

Linda’s love and passion for animals comes through her lens effortlessly. Her fun energy works well with the furry souls too! She was able to capture the incredible relationship between human and dog with some amazing adoption stories. We are excited to share these stories in our Furever Homes Section and show you that in the end all of us need a little love and companionship.

We at Lens and Leash want to thank Linda Blue for donating her time and talent to helping these adorable pups find their forever homes and capturing both the pups and humans happy ending.

Lens And Leash: When did you first start taking up photography and why?

Linda Blue: In 1985 I wanted an SLR Camera and received one and had no idea how to use it, so I took a summer school class at our local Junior College. I was hooked! I would spend 8 hours in the darkroom and came out feeling happy 🙂

Lens And Leash: When did you start your photography business and what was your goal when you started the company?

Linda Blue: After I graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography in 1991 I decided to stay in Santa Barbara and start my business. I just wanted to shoot! I love the variety of shooting weddings, families and businesses 🙂

Lens And Leash: What services do you provide?

Linda Blue: I shoot weddings, families, babies, furry friends, head shots, businesses, flowers… I love the variety!

Lens And Leash: What makes you stand out compared to other photographers?

Linda Blue: My ability to make people feel at ease & to bring out their essence is what makes me stand out 🙂 Oh and that moment to capture their essence when it reflects who they are!

Lens And Leash: What is your style and what do you like to photograph most?

Linda Blue: I photograph life’s biggest moments! In doing so, I tend to adapt to the situation and shoot it organically, keeping it natural so that it reflects what actually was happening!

Lens And Leash: Do you have a favorite project you have shot and why?

Linda Blue: I would have to say shooting The Rose Parade Floats is pretty amazing! Seeing the floats in person is so amazing and I get to see them up close & personal 🙂 I even get to put flowers on the float every year!

Lens And Leash: What has been your favorite location to work at so far?

Linda Blue: I would have to say a dinner party on a rooftop in Brooklyn, New York was super cool! Although a battlefield in Virginia was pretty breathtaking too! Then again, an orchid greenhouse in Carpinteria, CA was extraordinary! Too many to just pick one favorite :}

Lens And Leash: What changes have you seen in the industry since you started?

Linda Blue: I went through college when there was no such thing as a digital camera. Need I say more? Lol! Everything has changed! At first, I went in kicking and screaming, but somewhere along the way I embraced digital cameras & the digital darkroom and have found my stride!

Lens And Leash: What gets you most excited about your business and the future?

Linda Blue: I get excited for every single shoot! The variety makes it interesting and sometimes challenging, which makes me thrive! I consider myself a solution finder and will figure out a way to make my clients vision a reality! As far as the future goes, I can’t wait to see where technology takes us 🙂

Lens And Leash: What inspires you?

Linda Blue: Natural beauty inspires me. Human kindness brings tears to my eyes.

Lens And Leash: What is your favorite camera?

Linda Blue: I love my Canon’s, but I do love my phone and all it’s app fun! Who would have ever thought our phones would do so much!

Lens And Leash: What is the one thing you have to have on all of your shoots?

Linda Blue: My sense of humor, my sense of adventure and back ups of all my equipment!

Lens And Leash: Do you have any tips for aspiring photographers?

Linda Blue: Be tenacious! And never give up on your dreams 🙂

Lens And Leash: Do you have any pets? Have you ever adopted?

Linda Blue: I adopted my girl Rufus a long time ago! She is gone now, and I still miss her…

Lens And Leash: If you could choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Linda Blue: “Optimistic” by Sounds Of Blackness

Lens And Leash: If you were a dog or cat, what type of dog/cat would you be and why?

Linda Blue: I would be a mutt because I think they are the luckiest animals on earth with how their humans take care of them & love them unconditionally!
