The Art Of Giving This Holiday Season

Written by Lens And Leash

Tis’ the season for giving and what would be better than giving a furry friend a new home. Showcasing animal shelters and the animals that need forever homes is our focus this holiday season as well as the whole year round. We had a local photographer open her heart and her camera lens to highlight the Animal Adoption Center in Jackson Hole, Wyoming right before Santa made his appearance on Christmas Day.

Animal Adoption Center In Jackson Hole Wyoming

Karissa Akin of Après Events donated her time and talents during the busy holiday season to show these animals, the Animal Adoption Center and the staff some love. Although Karissa and her crew mainly shoot weddings, shooting an animal shelter takes the same amount of detail, compassion and love to capture the furry subjects.

Karissa said, “What an incredible experience to work with the Animal Adoption Center. Carrie and her team are such generous and caring people. They know every animal’s story and how to interact with each like they were their own. What a wonderful testament the AAC is to this community and the value they place on finding every animal a loving home. I hope several of the four-legged friends we met today end up under a Christmas tree at their forever home this Holiday season!”

In Karissa’s beautiful donated documentation of just a few of these best friends waiting for a home, she highlighted some of the standout characters.

Meet Daisy

Daisy – Female Staffordshire Terrier Pit Mix

Update – Adopted! “Daisy is full of love and spirit this 1.5 year old pit mix loves to play fetch with any ball you can find. She gets along well with other dogs and never runs out of energy.”

Meet Pepper

Pepper At Animal Adoption Center

Pepper – Female Chihuahua

Update – Adopted! “She was found in Idaho Falls as a stray, someone had left her behind. Her entire mouth was rotting when they found her so she had almost all of her teeth removed except for three of them. She is 6 years old and wears a sweet sweater with class. She loves to be cuddled and loves to go on walks when the snow is not too deep.”

Meet Luke Skywhisker

Luke Skywhisker – Male

Update – Adopted! “He was found as a stray. He’s a young rambunctious Jedi with piercing yellow eyes and a desire to defeat the evil forces.”

Meet Dottie

Dotti – Female Pit Mix

“Lots of energy and wiggles can’t keep this girl away from you. She is four years old and a pit mix. She loves to play fetch and cuddle on the couch. Would prefer to be the only dog in the home but she does have a lot of doggy friends out and about.”

Meet Earl And Eddie

Earl (Left) Eddie (Right) – Both Males

Update – Adopted! “Earl is a perfect gentleman and just wants to please you with cuddles. If Eddie had his way he would have a whole salmon for dinner and is looking to be spoiled!”

These are but a few of the Christmas angels so unselfishly photographed and loved by Karissa Akin of Après Events that are waiting to give love back.

  • Hello ,

I saw your tweet about animals and thought I will check your website. I like it!

I love pets. I have two beautiful thai cats called Tammy(female) and Yommo(male). Yommo is 1 year older than Tommy. He acts like a bigger brother for her. 🙂
I have even created an Instagram account for them ( https://www.instagram.com/tayo_home/ ) and probably soon they will have more followers than me (kinda funny).

I wanted to subscribe to your newsletter, but I couldn’t find it. Do you have it?

Keep up the good work on your blog.

    Regards

    • Hi Wiki,

Thanks so much for reaching out and the kind words! Tammy and Yommo are adorable! We don’t currently have a newsletter but it is currently in the works. Once it is ready we will have a couple places on the website to sign up.

      Thanks again!
      Sean
